Fibroids and Infertility

I have a 22 month old daughter and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant again for 10 months and so far have had no luck. My doctor noticed that I had a few small fibroids in my uterus while doing an ultrasound when I was pregnant with my daughter. I have a feeling this could be the reason we're not having success conceiving a second time. Are there any herbs that may be helpful?

Fibroids is one of many possible causes of infertility. The growth of fibroids is triggered by a hormone imbalance. Excess estrogen triggers the growth of fibroids and progesterone balances this effect. Herbal treatment for fibroids includes balancing the hormones as well as supporting other body systems such as the blood circulation and elimination from the bowel and kidney, so that the cause of the hormone imbalance can be treated.
Amanda McQuade Crawford in "Herbal Remedies for Women" (Prima Publishing), recommends the following: Vitex agnus-castus (chasteberry) to balance hormones, with Blue Cohosh to help the body to reduce excess estrogen.
Capsella bursa-pastoris (shepherd's purse) to stimulate circulation and astringe the uterus.
Verbena officinalis (vervain) to balance the blood sugar
Viburnum prunifolium (black haw bark) to ease cramping
Anemone pulsatilla (pasque flower) and Leonurus cardiaca (motherwort) to relieve pain.
In the diet, caffeine increases estrogen and should be avoided or cut down. Whole foods, grains, fresh vegetables and raw fruit should make up the bulk of the diet, balanced with lean protein.
Moderate exercise will increase pelvic circulation.
Rest as the body dictates, so that cleansing and recuperation can take place more quickly.
