I am 36 year old female and for the last two years I have been having a voice change. My voice sounds like I always have a cold and I don't. People always think I am sick and I am not. This is year round not seasonal. I really hate it and I can't sing at church anymore. Sometimes I go to speak and nothing comes out but a sqeak! Please help me. I am really getting depressed by this.A hoarseness in the voice could be caused by hormonal changes, which can be the result of diet, drugs, pregnancies or menopause. Hormone imbalance can also be caused by Candida growth in the intestinal tract. Under-functioning of the thyroid gland causes hoarseness, with other symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain and intolerance to cold. Your doctor can have a blood test taken to determine thyroid functioning.
