Side Effects of Herbs Used with Morphine

I have had eleven back surgeries, and I am on Ms Contin, MSIR which are both prescription morphine and timed released morphine. Do herbs for menopause and diabetics have side effects when used with these prescriptions?

Morphine depresses the central nervous system. Herbs that affect the central nervous system should be avoided, as they may cause unpredictable effects. These include: Hops, St. John's wort, Valerian, Vervain, Passionflower, Black Cohosh, Blue Cohosh, Evening Primrose Oil, Ephedra, Chamomile, Ginseng, Gotu Kola, Motherwort, Skullcap, Kava Kava, Wild Yam, Wild Lettuce and any other herbs known to be sedative, hypnotic or nerve stimulants.
Many of the above herbs are used in menopausal formulas. Herbs for diabetes usually include liver-supportive herbs and herbs to regulate the immune system. Watch for Evening Primrose Oil and Ginseng, which may be included in a diabetic formula.
