I have had eleven back surgeries, and I am on Ms Contin, MSIR which are both prescription morphine and timed released morphine. Do herbs for menopause and diabetics have side effects when used with these prescriptions?Morphine depresses the central nervous system. Herbs that affect the central nervous system should be avoided, as they may cause unpredictable effects. These include: Hops, St. John's wort, Valerian, Vervain, Passionflower, Black Cohosh, Blue Cohosh, Evening Primrose Oil, Ephedra, Chamomile, Ginseng, Gotu Kola, Motherwort, Skullcap, Kava Kava, Wild Yam, Wild Lettuce and any other herbs known to be sedative, hypnotic or nerve stimulants.
