I am currently using herbal tinctures of yellow dock, chamomile, borage, oregon grape and burdock for rosacea. Should I use them continually for years, or is it more beneficial to give the body a rest from them to time?
In herbal therapy, particular herbs are recommended for 2 to 4 weeks, and then adjustments made according to progress. Please see other answers to questions about rosacea on our web site at www.richters.com. Select "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "rosacea" for the search.
If the recommended diet for rosacea is followed, positive results are expected within 2 weeks. If the acne has not substantially cleared within that time, then other factors may be involved, like food sensititivies, digestive disturbances, nervous system involvement, or hormone imbalance. I recommend that you visit a natural practitioner, like a herbalist or naturopath, for a full assessment to determine the factors involved in your case. If you follow a natural therapy that is recommended for the factors involved for your particular case, then therapeutic herbs should only be required for a period of 1 to 3 months.
