I am underweight and have amenorrhea as a result. I eat around 1500 calories a day, but need more. The problem is I get nausea and a stomach ache when I try to increase my intake. I recently read that Gentian was good for appetite so I bought a product that contained it and thought it was helping until today. I feel the same again. My stomach hurts and I am stressed out because I want to put on weight. I am also taking Dong quai. I am 31 and 5'4' 105 pounds. I recently starting lifting weights, hoping that would increase my appetite as well as put on lean mass. If you have any suggestions for appetite stimulants and menstrual regulators I would greatly appreciate it. I was taking birth control to regulate my periods, but the side effects were horrible. I do not want to end up with osteoporosis. It will be more helpful to you to explore possible problems with your digestion and absorption than to take herbs to increase your appetite.
